CCK Law Community Engagement (August 2026): Strengthening Georgia’s Veteran-Serving Network Through Strategic Partnerships

Throughout August, CCK Law expanded its statewide network through strategic partnerships, legislative engagement, community investment, volunteer service, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen support for veterans, military families, and communities across Georgia by connecting with a number of organizations:

Georgia Department of Veterans Service (GDVS)

Building relationships with veteran and government leaders remained a central focus. CCK Law participated in the Georgia Department of Veterans Service (GDVS) Legislative Breakfast Briefing, where eight Georgia senators and representatives joined veteran leaders and community partners to discuss issues affecting veterans across the state.

Topics included:

• The veterans homestead tax exemption
• Access to state parks
• Mental health services and research
• Homelessness
• Career and workforce development

The Warrior Alliance and the Cobb Collaborative

The firm also participated in The Warrior Alliance Community Partners Meeting and the Cobb Collaborative Connecting Georgia Veterans Quarterly Meeting, strengthening relationships across Georgia’s veteran-serving community.

CCK expanded its partnership with The Warrior Alliance through its statewide Veteran Legal Service Network (VLSN). Partner Brad Hennings joined the VLSN attorney directory, creating a new pathway for The Warrior Alliance to refer veterans seeking assistance with VA disability benefits and appeals directly to CCK Law.

This partnership expands access to trusted legal representation while strengthening coordination among Georgia’s veteran-serving organizations.

National Montford Point Marine Association

CCK Law served as the lead sponsor of the National Montford Point Marine Association Chapter 5 Atlanta Annual Gala, joining more than 200 attendees, including veterans and active-duty Marines, to honor the legacy of the nation’s first African American Marines.

Georgia DeKalb Chamber of Commerce

The firm was also a corporate sponsor of the Georgia DeKalb Chamber of Commerce VALOR Awards, joining more than 250 attendees in recognizing the service and sacrifice of fire service, 911, EMS, and law enforcement professionals.

Georgia VECTR Center

CCK Law also sponsored the Georgia VECTR Center’s Coffee and Camaraderie breakfast, which brought together 25 veterans for connection and access to community resources.

Operation Homefront

Direct volunteer service remained an important part of the firm’s efforts. In Groton, Connecticut, CCK’s own Stephen Cribben, Ashley Butler, and Sarah Phillips volunteered with Operation Homefront’s Back-to-School Brigade, where approximately 400 children from military families received backpacks and school supplies. CCK Law also supported the event as a sponsor.

Soldier’s Angels

In Atlanta, CCK Community Engagement Lead Nicole Goodrich provided direct volunteer service with Soldiers’ Angels during its monthly grocery distribution, helping serve 225 veterans, each receiving approximately 75 pounds of groceries.

County Chambers of Commerce

August also provided opportunities to broaden CCK Law’s relationships across Georgia’s business, nonprofit, and philanthropic communities. The firm participated in events with the Cobb County, DeKalb County, Forsyth County, and Gwinnett County Chambers of Commerce, including a Forsyth County ribbon-cutting for community partner Comfort Keepers of North Georgia.

Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation

Nicole Goodrich also met with the president and CEO of the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation to introduce CCK Law’s work and begin exploring opportunities to build a community partnership.

Georgia Planned Giving Council

CCK Law’s engagement extended to the philanthropic community through participation in the Georgia Planned Giving Council meeting, which featured a presentation on AI in charitable planning. The meeting provided an opportunity to build relationships with planned giving professionals and increase awareness of CCK Law’s Bequest Management practice and its work with nonprofit organizations.

United Military Care

Finally, CCK Law participated in United Military Care’s first community partner planning meeting for the next We CARE Vet Fair, scheduled for October 22, 2026, at the Cobb Civic Center. Building on Nicole Goodrich’s representation of CCK Law at the Rome and Columbus We CARE Vet Fairs in June and July, Nicole and Brad Hennings will represent the firm at the upcoming Cobb County event.

Expanding Local Support and Opportunities for Georgia Veterans

Through legislative engagement, strategic partnerships, sponsorships, volunteer service, and relationship building, CCK Law continued to strengthen its community presence while expanding pathways for veterans and their families to access trusted information, legal resources, and community support.
