CCK Law: Our Vital Role in Veterans Law

CCK is pleased to announce Ms. Christianna Golden as the winner of the 2021 Law School Scholarship for Veterans.  After serving in the Marine Corps, Ms. Golden demonstrates a continued dedication to service as she enters her final year of law school at New England Law ǀ Boston.

About the Scholarship Winner

Like many veterans, Christianna Golden has always desired to serve something greater than herself.  Golden first pursued this dream by joining the Marine Corps.

During her time in the Marines, she served as a Manpower and Legal Officer.  Golden, who was responsible for the care and wellbeing of those in her unit, worked to draft and edit new policies, helped to address inconsistencies and eliminate bias within the command’s adjudicatory process, and organized training and education programs for future Marines.  Inspired by the ways “the legal and legislative processes could strengthen the force’s preservation and foresight for strategic planning,” Golden decided to see if this “sentiment could be mirrored outside of the service.”

Enrolling in law school was a natural next step in Golden’s ongoing pursuit of service.  In addition to her many demanding courses, Golden has taken on volunteer and leadership roles.  Not only did she spend her spare time volunteering as part of the CORI Initiative under New England Law ǀ Boston’s Center for Law and Social Responsibility, but she also became a mentor and manager to other students.  Golden leads and supports her fellow volunteers while also actively striving to improve the program as a whole, just as she did as an officer in the Marines.

In this position, Golden assists indigent clients in sealing or expunging criminal records, works to widen the social and cultural perspective of fellow student participants, and collaborates with other organizations to provide the community she serves with better, more equal avenues for success.  These opportunities for public service through legal advocacy continue to energize and inspire Golden.  After earning her degree, Golden aspires to draft equitable legislation that will ultimately strengthen and unify our nation.

“As the uniform I wear will shift from digital green Marine pattern to that of the drafter of legislation, two things about these uniforms will remain consistent; I am a public servant armed with the Marine Corps leadership traits and it is my duty to serve the people of this great nation to be part of something bigger than myself.”

Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick is honored to support Ms. Golden as she tirelessly supports and serves so many of us.
