Holdyn joined Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick in August of 2020 as an appellate attorney. His practice focuses on representing disabled veterans before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
Holdyn received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School as a Public Interest and Government Scholar and his B.A. from Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY) in Political Science and Journalism with minors in Spanish and Law and Policy, summa cum laude, and simultaneously earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Financial Management through the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Prior to law school he was a 2012 Teach for America Miami-Dade Corps member which fortified his professional commitment to serving under presented individuals and his personal passion for public interest lawyering through impactful legal counsel. He is the 2017 recipient of the Gold National Service Public Interest Award, the highest national public interest award, from President Barack Obama for completing over five-hundred hours of pro-bono legal services whilst in law school.
Holdyn also studied International Business and International Trade Law for a semester at the University of Groningen, Faculty of Law in The Netherlands which led him to serve as a legal intern with the White House, Executive Office of the President in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative where he utilized his bilingual Spanish fluency and focused primarily on trade compliance and enforcement initiatives between the US and Latin America, specially US-Argentina Trade Enforcement. He also worked as a law clerk with the Washington D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings in the rental housing and employment jurisdictions and further fostered his litigation and bilingual client-counseling skills at the Department of Justice in the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices. He was a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and the Mock Trial Board where he coached the winning team for the 2016 school-wide competition.
Prior to joining Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick, Holdyn was appointed to the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department in the Commercial and Real Estate Litigation and Administrative Law Litigation divisions where he defended the City and numerous city agencies in complex multi-million dollar contractual and real estate litigation matters and challenges to the city’s statutory and regulatory systems under Article 78 petitions. After representing the City, Holdyn transitioned to legal services as a defense attorney in housing law, specially, preserving affordable housing programs and consumer and economic transactional and litigation defense in state and federal courts.
During his free time Holdyn enjoys the outdoors, traveling, music, community engagement and mentoring youth.
