Christine K. Clemens

Christine joined Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick in February 2019 and was named Partner starting 2023. Her practice focuses on representing disabled veterans before Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Christine earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and Masters in Public Policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy in 2008. She received her B.A. in French and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2003.

Christine began her legal career in 2008 as a staff attorney at Public Counsel in Los Angeles, first in the Homelessness Prevention Law Project, and then in the Center for Veterans Advancement (CVA). There, she provided direct legal services to homeless youth, families, individuals, and veterans. From 2012-2019, she served as a Managing Attorney and Pro Bono Coordinator for the Veterans’ Services Group at Finkelstein and Partners, LLP in New York.

Christine has conducted numerous CLEs on veterans’ law and poverty law across the country. She has worked with Veterans Rebuilding Life, Connecticut Veterans Legal Services Program, Legal Services NYC, the Veterans Pro Bono Consortium and the National Organization of Veterans Advocates (NOVA) to provide pro bono representation to veterans. Christine was named the 2016 CVA-NOVA Pro Bono Advocate of the Year. Christine was selected to the Super Lawyers New York Rising Stars List in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

In April 2018, Christine was appointed to the CAVC Committee on Admission and Practice.  She is also a member of the CAVC Bar Association.  From 2013-2019, she served as a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Veterans where she worked collaboratively to produce Amicus briefs to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court and to coordinate CLE on veterans issues. She is a sustaining member of NOVA and currently serves on the Regulation Comment Committee and as co-chair of the Amicus and Litigation Committee. Since January 2019, she has served on NOVA’s Board of Directors, where she currently holds the position of Vice-President, formerly Secretary.
